About Me

Hello!

My name is Taylor and I'm a 28 year old living in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. I moved from Massachusetts to New Hampshire while I was in senior in college to live more independently. While all my friends were busy finding careers in the city, I knew a busy city life wasn't in my future. I started living in my parents ski house, bought a dog, and started managing the family business.

I didn't know anyone in New Hampshire, so I passed my time snowboarding, going to the gym and hiking.. all ways I could have fun without the stress of trying to make friends in a new town. One day at work, I came across a book about the 48 4,000 footers of New Hampshire and started skimming through it. I realized that this was a popular hiking list in the hiking community here and figured I'd give it a shot in my free time.

Fast forward 3 years and I finished the hiking list! During all my time hiking, I became interested in the idea of long distance backpacking. I would watch Youtube videos of thru-hikers and became so fascinated. I figured I was in a good spot in my life that I could try out long distance hiking for myself. I have a supportive fiancé, a flexible job, and money saved up. I thought if I don't take my adventures now.. I may never get around to it!

I thought 2020 was my year to thru-hike, but plans changed 3 weeks into my hike when the lockdowns and closures were being put in place. Due to all the uncertainty between Covid and also my job, I made the decision to postpone my thru-hike to 2021. On February 22nd, 2021, I set off again back at Springer Mountain in Georgia to thru-hike the trail and completed the task 121 days later on Katahdin on June 23rd!
